Double growth! New energy vehicle exports exceed 2 million units for the first time

According to the latest data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, from January to October 2025, China's exports of new energy vehicles exceeded the 2 million mark for the first time, reaching a cumulative total of 2.014 million vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 90.4%. In October, the export volume was 256000 vehicles, a month on month increase of 15.4%, and a year-on-year surge of 99.9% (almost doubling).  

Highlights:

-The average monthly export has doubled from 100000 vehicles last year to 200000 vehicles this year, achieving a doubling growth

-New energy vehicles accounted for 35.9% of total automobile exports, an increase of 14.6 percentage points from last year

-In sharp contrast to the 5.1% decline in exports of traditional fuel vehicles

-The rise of Chinese brands in the Southeast Asian market: Japanese brands' market share has decreased from 77% in the 2010s to 62%, while Chinese brands have increased from almost zero to over 5%

-Thai market: Chinese brand market share has exceeded 19.5%

-China Laos Railway Becomes a New Channel: The number of cars exported through China Laos Railway in the first 10 months increased 10 times year-on-year
